During my prayer time today, I asked God to give me a word or message to share with you all.
He pointed me to the fruit of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
The Bible talks about the fruit of the Spirit. It is not about the fruit we eat, such as
apples, oranges, bananas… but it talks about what happens to us when we have the
Spirit of God in us.
The fruit of something means the result of something. It’s the thing that happens at
The fruit of an apple tree is that it produces apples.
The fruit of an orange tree is that it produces oranges.
There are also fruits when we do things.
The fruit of eating lots of sweets like lollies, cakes, ice cream is that we get hypo.
The fruit of brushing our teeth is that we have clean teeth.
The fruit of exercise is that we get stronger.
The Spirit of God can be with us when we keep His commandments.
But if we don’t keep His commandments, the Spirit of God will leave.
When we do things that invite the Spirit, the Spirit of God can be with us. When the
Spirit is with us, that has fruits too.
With the current circumstances we are facing today, the fruit of the Spirit applies in
all areas. And it is important to understand how it applies.
*** Love ***
When we have God’s Spirit in us, we know that God loves us. We are filled with love
for God, our family, friends, teachers, neighbours etc..
*** Joy ***
We feel really happy, not just for a while but all the time.
*** Peace ***
We are not worried, angry or stressed. Our hearts can rest, be calm and peaceful.
*** Longsuffering ***
We can be patient, even when other people are causing trouble for us. When there’s
no food on the shelves at the shops today, we can wait and check again tomorrow.
*** Gentleness ***
We are kind and caring towards people. Check on your family, friends, and
neighbours to see if they need help.
*** Kindness ***
We only want to think about good things and we only want to do good things. Offer to
help those who are less fortunate.
*** Faith ***
We believe in Jesus Christ and we are willing to obey Him and do what He asks us
*** Meekness ***
We can control our emotions and our actions, even if we’re having a bad day.
*** Temperance ***
We can say no to something that isn’t good for us, even if we really want it.
God loves us and He wants to bless us with good things.
When we have the Spirit of God in us, lots of good things happen.
The world is suddenly crazy. But the good news is, God is the same yesterday,
today and forever.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound
