Dear Flourish Ladies and Church Family,
As we have heard numerous times, we are definitely living in unprecedented times. Mankind is
experiencing a different way of life, a new kind of normal and we are spending most of our time inside our
homes with our families.
This could have a positive or negative effect on us and the people closest to us, depending on what we
allow our households to represent and what things have access, free reign and liberty in our homes.
I believe that in order to maintain a positive atmosphere in our homes, we need to constantly seek God’s
wisdom and counsel, through His word, as a guide for how to run a harmonious, Godly, positive and
Throughout the book of Proverbs, I am drawn to the interwoven theme of wisdom throughout the whole
Wisdom, in Proverbs is described as valuable, a shield for those walking uprightly, a preserver of our lives,
more precious than rubies, an extender of our lives, a path to find God, our security, attaining
understanding and knowledge, our protection, displaying self-control and self-discipline, among many
How can we procure Godly wisdom? I believe it is through;
1) Having the fear (reverence, utmost respect) of God in our lives (Proverbs 1:7, 3:7, 9:10)
2) Seeking and praying specifically for Godly wisdom (James 1:5; Matthew 7:7)
3) Being righteous – doing what is right and acceptable to God regardless of the status quo and who is
present (Proverbs 10:21, 31; Psalms 37 verses 30, 37, 39).
4) His Word – meditating on scripture and studying what His word says for our lives (Proverbs 23:23;
Psalms 119 verses – 4, 6, 7, 9, 11 ,15, 28, 34, 35, 40, 50, 66, 73, 98, 105).
5) Having a teachable spirit – allowing God’s word, as well as the God-given wisdom of our pastor, to
correct, mould and shape us to be more like Christ-like (Proverbs 13:20, 15:12, 19:20).
In a world that is currently rampant with negativity and fear, let’s endeavour to fill our homes with God’s
word, prayer and earnestly seek Godly wisdom in the everyday running of it. This will ensure that our
households become a safe haven for us and our families, where our relationship with God individually and
as a family continues to mature and grow, where His peace that surpasses all understanding reigns and His
presence fills our entire house.
I encourage you to dedicate your homes as your own personal Bethel (House of God) seeking Godly
wisdom, endeavouring to have peace and unity with your family members, in the midst of the fear and
chaos that is tormenting the outside world today. Let’s fill our homes with the Joy of the Lord (which is our
strength), allowing Him to be our fortress and strong tower. Seek His wisdom and you will obtain it, to a
place where it will saturate your abodes with the love of God.
3 Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;
4 By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength;
6 For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Allow Godly wisdom to guide you, your family and enrich your lives and homes today.
Sis Annette Caltabiano
